Inaugaration Day in America

Well we have had another peaceful (relatively) change in power in the US today. We inaugurated our 45th president - Donald Trump.

There are many Americans who are very unhappy today and I would like to address you in the hope that you will adjust your thinking with a bit of perspective.

Today is not about Donald Trump. Today is about our country and the Democratic system we have in place to transfer power from one administration to another without violence and anarchy. It is about showing the world what a smart and balanced country we are. How well our freedoms work and why we are the greatest country on earth.

As for Donald Trump, there a few truths you need to ponder. He would NOT be our 45th President if it were not for you. Yes you the left wing liberals who swung the pendulum to far left and enraged the moderates and conservatives. You and your progressive agenda created this backlash that we now all have to live with. You were warned and did not take heed. You violated the very basic principals of our constitution and got reminded how our amazing system of government works. Your focus on governing by minorities and not the majority flew in the face of our founding principle. You caused this - own it!

In 2008 I knew a great number of people were not happy that Obama became our 44th president. They like you were very worried and frightened by some of his campaign rhetoric and promises. They feared for their livelihoods and freedoms. They feared their way of life and the laws protecting them would be changed. While all this was happening you were celebrating and ignoring the other side. Despite this they were not protesting and rioting as we have seen you do since Trump won the election and continuing into today. No that side chose to hunker down, show respect for our system of government and give Obama a chance.

Obama has just completed two terms as President and his legacy is yet to be determined. Without question his polices and those of the Democrats, have driven a very large stake of division into this great country. Since he was able to drive many critical parts of the liberal agenda through in his first term (several illegally) this bolstered the left and brought an agenda that thought it had no boundaries. History has shown here and in other countries this never works. Just like personal relationships, dominance by one side over another creates imbalance and ultimately failure.

Trump was smart enough to tap into the growing sentiment in America that the majority had had enough. That governing by exception and minority was unacceptable. That slow to no economic growth was unbearable. That taxes and government intervention had grown too much. That greedy elitist politicians needed to go. That the backbone of America - the hard working lower and middle class, were ignored long enough. So the uprising started and the wave grew and finally washed over the country and put Trump in power.

If you are a liberal Democrat you should be withdrawing and reviewing what went wrong not attacking and whining about what has not happened yet. Look at the elitist reality you created and why that is not the American way. Look at how hypocritically divided your party has become. Learn that you cannot just take and dictate, you must give and listen. But most of all learn that your attitude of "your way or no way is not the American way".

So now what? Well first stop the protesting and whining and start to look at ways to contribute ideas and have civil discourse on what matters to you. Trump has not done anything yet so there is nothing to protest. Like so many did with Obama, give him a chance. He may surprise you. If he does terrible things or tries to go too "far right" the system will correct itself and he will not get a second term. Breathe, relax and think about compromises you should have made when you were in power. Choose the middle ground and watch how fast your popularity rises.

We are the greatest country on earth but not because of all our social programs, not because we made gay marriage legal, not because we have more than half the population on some form of government assistance and not because our military is weak and depleted.  We are because of the checks and balances we have in our method of government and because neither side can run rampant for too long. It is because we are a nation of hard working, proud, God fearing people who for the most part want to do the right thing.  We are not nor will ever be the country you want - government dependent, unambitious, subservient, minorities who complain constantly and believe they are owed everything. Take a look at history these type of countries never succeed.

Just because the new majority wants to fix some perceived errors does not mean we are going to govern ourselves back to the 50's. The mere fact that liberals think Trump or the Republicans want to make horrendous sweeping changes to our way of life shows how myopic and self centered this group are. Women's rights are not going to eliminated, they are not going to deport every illegal alien and their families, nor are they going to force the LBGT community back into the closet. This is hysterics with no factual basis that will never happen. Sure we may end up with a slightly more conservative agenda on immigration, welfare, and economics. We may even have a small symbolic wall along the Mexican border. perhaps like the one they have with Guatemala and Belize. We will have a slightly more conservative Supreme court and we will have a Republican House and Senate for a few years. On the plus side I doubt Trump will use executive orders to the extent Obama did.

The story here is we are a country of moderation and the new administration must be given our support and an opportunity to implement their plan. Despite what many liberals think this might be a good thing for America. If we can stimulate the economy and drive serious job growth then everything else improves. If we really can improve our infrastructure and put America first, life will be better for all of us. We need to stop looking at our difference and our problems and start looking at our common goals and all the opportunities we can create.

At the end of the day our country owes us nothing (except those who served in the military) but we owe her a lot. It's a simple formula love one another, congregate around our common ideals, protect each other, create opportunities for all - jobs, business development and education. Strive to be the best at everything we do and have pride in our country - not just pieces of it. Work hard, pay taxes, follow the Golden Rule, worship as you wish, make family the top priority, don't discriminate, give back if you can, and always be an American first.

So lets unify this country, get back to our founding principles, stop the hate, focus on our common goals and make America Great Again. God Bless America.

American Hypocrits

I am confused and sad. All the polls for the last three years have shown the growing frustration and dislike the American people have for Congress. Actually, the approval rating for Congress is at 15% as of June. 9% was the lowest it has been in history and that happened late last year. Since 2012 we have averaged about 13% approval rating. I am one of those angry and frustrated Americans. The Congress has shown complete inability to conduct the business of the country and has bickered non stop since Obama took power. The have shown that their primary interest is their own political careers and not the will of the people. We are a laughing stock worldwide and this gridlock has affected our economy and foreign policy negatively. So here is the hypocrisy. If we hate the job the Congress is doing and we all agree that parties aside they are not performing to standards we the people have set, why don't we fire them? I just don't understand. We are a Democracy (really a republic...

The COVID debacle

Well its been a long time since I posted anything. Just been too busy with work. COVID 19 is here and I am so sad and disappointed about what the world has done. I have learned a massive lesson and not a good one. Actually we should all be very concerned about what has happened and I don't mean just the virus. So few disclaimers so I can avoid hate mail. I am deeply concerned about death - any single death. Everyone is a tragedy I am not a republican I am an Independent I have been in the healthcare business for over 40 years - so I know a fair amount I do not rely on any specific source for news - I verify everything myself Most of the stats I will quote are US based although I may add a few others In 2009 the world faced a pandemic called H1N1. It like Coronavirus was a virus with little or no data available. WHO declared it as a pandemic just as they did COVID 19. On the day that happened the worldwide reaction was very muted. In the US as a comparison the stock mar...

America's Transfer of Power - Tragedy at the Capital

Well yesterday was the beginning of a new chapter in America. What happened at the Capitol was unacceptable regardless of political party affiliation. It was however not unexpected and not surprising. With the constant protesting and violence that has haunted many American cities for the past year or more driven by radical Democrats, it is not surprising that at some point the opposing party would resort to the same sort of behavior. Peaceful Protests are acceptable - violence is not. It is still unknown whether the actual perpetrators of this heinous behavior were truly conservative Trump supporters or paid disruptors specifically mingling in with the peaceful protesters in the capital. Unlike the Democrats who have refused to condemn violence that there constituents have perpetrated for the past three years, the Republican Party condemned the activities on the capital immediately and apologized for any role they had in leading up to this tragedy. There have been many reports...
